Join us in cleaning up our clouds together. Think of long-forgotten photos you no longer need or emails that have been gathering so much dust you can’t even see them anymore.
Using a practical handout and support where needed, we’ll get to work decluttering digital data that costs us money, takes away clarity, and also consumes a lot of energy. Bring a fully charged laptop. You’re also welcome to bring something (vegetarian) to eat and drink to share, but that is not required.

Makers, thinkers, tech enthusiasts & designers wanted: how do we keep ourselves warm?
WarmteLab is organizing the third brainstorm as part of our DO YOU LIKE IT HOT? project.
This time, we’re diving into local heat: heat that works close to your body; smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable than heating an entire space.
Ultimately, we’ll create our own heat objects using a special textile technique developed by Janneke de Lange. There’s still plenty of room to explore ideas, hack systems, and further develop concepts together.

Wooncoöperatie Het Krakeel is een groep Hagenaars die samen een wooncomplex wil realiseren in Den Haag: betaalbaar, duurzaam en volop gemeenschappelijk leven.
Op donderdag 5 juni komen we samen voor een spannende avond: we hebben twee locaties voorgesteld gekregen en gaan als groep bepalen welke kavel de beste plek wordt voor ons toekomstige thuis.

The theme of this year’s Day of Architecture is “The Solidarity Society.” We are at a tipping point. The challenges we face in the areas of climate, energy, and social justice are immense. Yet, as professor and transition expert Jan Rotmans often emphasizes, the most important transition we need to make is a personal one: overcoming our fear of change.
EnergieKas is a cultural testing ground that creates space for imagination, experimentation, and encounters at the intersection of art, climate, and science. It provides artists, designers, and makers with opportunities for hands-on experimentation, public programming, knowledge sharing, and collaboration across the fields of design, climate, and science. Together, we explore, test, and experience possible futures. What might our cities and societies look like if we chose a different path?
EnergieKas is part of De Helena, a former school building dating from the 1990s. Over the past few years, the building's users have gradually brought it back to life. Makers, designers, artists, community initiatives, and cultural organisations now use the space to host a wide range of activities. De Helena demonstrates how a place can evolve and flourish when people are given the opportunity to build something together. The municipality plans to sell the building. In response, the current users joined forces with an investor and submitted a proposal for a cultural and social future for the site. Their vision is to further develop the building as a non-profit, sustainable, and community-oriented place that continues to serve the city and its residents.

StadsLab: De Gedeelde Stad / The Shared City

We invite you to join us for PopSession #1, the first edition, taking place on the rooftop of De Helena.
During Pop Sessions, we come together to explore the questions that concern us. One of these questions is how we collectively organise space in our city. Who has access? Who decides? What collective models can we apply? And who holds the power?
Each Pop Session consists of a lecture, conversation, and short workshop. Afterwards, there will be space to continue the discussion informally.
Our guest speaker for this edition is Roberto Rocco of the Centre for the Just City. Roberto is an Associate Professor of Spatial Planning and Strategy at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at TU Delft. Trained as both an architect and spatial planner, he earned his Master’s degree in Planning from the University of São Paulo and completed his PhD at TU Delft.
His research focuses primarily on governance for sustainability transitions, regional planning, and spatial design, with particular attention to spatial justice as a crucial component of these transitions. He has extensively researched and published on informal urbanisation in the Global South, specifically investigating how informal institutions shape and influence planning practices at the local level. This work has resulted in two major publications: The Routledge Handbook on Informal Urbanisation (2019) and Insurgent Planning Practice (2024).
Together with Caroline Newton, he co-directs the TU Delft Centre for the Just City, an initiative dedicated to promoting spatial justice in the built environment through education, research, and consultancy.

Pop Sessions are initiated by the Popdistrict Foundation. Popdistrict is a 25,000 m² cultural institution with a tramline running straight through its centre. The district’s public space connects dozens of locations housing creative entrepreneurs and cultural organisations, while also providing a stage for numerous music festivals, including Sniester, Grauzone, and Rewire.

Join our open fermentation session led by Taeyeon Kim, Global Kimchi Ambassador of the World Institute of Kimchi.
We’ll be making oi-kimchi: cucumber kimchi. This is an essential part of Korean summer, known for its light and refreshing taste. All three apply to us too, and that doesn’t stop us. Give it a try, or share what you’ve been doing for years. Put a few words on paper, and you might suddenly find yourself reading them aloud by the end of the evening!

Language is no barrier, as far as we’re concerned (and we are). Poetry makes its own language, one that cares little for borders or rationality.

BAKING BREAD: FOCACCIA EVENING - beginner friendly

Less course, more kitchen-table: let's make sourdough focaccia together! The good kind, with lots of olive oil and salt. We make the dough together and talk over the details that make or break it: hydration, the dimpling, knowing when it's properly proved. Then we eat a warm one straight out of the oven and you take your own dough home to bake off the next day.
Two evenings, pick the one that fits you:
* Wednesday 29 July - for first-timers, with Flo
* Tuesday 25 August - for those who already bake, with Stefano and Flo
Hosted by Flo from Flo Bakestudio, baker, pastry chef, and data analyst the rest of the week, so she can tell you exactly where your focaccia went wrong and why. For August she's joined by Stefano of PanePane in Voorburg, who lectures and researches sustainability at Leiden University and, being Italian, has been speaking the language of focaccia since birth.

Exploring Eco-emotions
Workshop

Anxious, angry, or hopeful about the state of our planet? What to do with those feelings?
Eco-emotions are real, from anxiety to frustration to inspiration. We will explore why your eco-emotions matter and what they can tell you about your relationship with the people and environment around you. You will identify and name your feelings and be given the space to discuss your emotions with others (if you feel like it) in a local context, and discover ways to deal with these emotions and build resilience.
The workshop is hosted by Ian, a local resident of The Hague who is active in the space of food, renewable energy, circular economy and rewilding and inspired by the Youth Environment Europe Yeghvard workshop he participated in back in May 2026.
What to expect: a short introduction to eco-emotions, time with the Climate Emotions Wheel, a guided discussion circle, and practical coping strategies.
If you can, bring something to drink or a snack to share (at least vegetarian).
Open to all, no prior knowledge needed. Spots are limited.
This event is offered on a pay-what-you-can basis. Every contribution helps to keep EnergieKas an open place for experimentation, community and learning.
